Game species
Ethiopia
The most legendary game species is the mountain nyala, which can only be found in Ethiopia. The best time to hunt Mt. Nyala is from October to late June. The trophy size of Mt. Nyala in our hunting areas are 36 inches and more. No Mt. Nyala under 36 inches will be shoot. The standard that our partner offers is among the best that Ethiopia has to offer. Hunting Mt. Nyala is a challenge for any hunter, and for most hunters, Mt. Nyala is the most valuable spiral horn antelope.
In addition to the Mt. Nyala, there are many other game species that can be hunted. You can get information directly from Versch Jagdreisen.
Which game species are here, see above. Below you will find the trophy gallery for the wild species that occur.
With its enchanting people and landscapes as well as fascinating wild species, Ethiopia continues to present itself as an exotic country in Africa. There are fewer hunting companies and outfitters in Ethiopia than in other hunting countries. The hunt itself is even more original and individual.
In this huge country we find high, strongly rugged mountain regions as well as wide, flat savannas. The climate is very reminiscent of the climate to Europe: with rain, fog, snow and hail. It is just much more humid there. Ethiopia has an average height of 2,400 meters, so the temperatures are nice to cool. There are two rainy seasons. One with rather short rainfall goes from late January to early March and a second, longer one from June to mid-September.
The arrival and departure is from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Upon arrival you will be picked up at the airport. We recommend an overnight stay in Addis Ababa and thus a relaxing trip the following day. In the hotel you will meet your professional hunter to talk to him about the logistics, departure and the specifics of your hunt. From Addis Ababa it is approx. 3 - 5 hours drive by off-road vehicle, depending on the area.
